the entirety of fall
spent mustering hope
crushed within seconds upon arrival of winter snow.
where grown leaves wither at the slightest cold
and newborn sprouts repose until the next bloom
my huddled body absorbs the warmth of my skin
my soul patiently awaits the new seedtime season.
for when seedtime arrives, i am prepared to reason
with the hardships endured during growing seasons.
surely i thrive
in tortuous burrows
pain scarcely touches me; i heal the wound before it lingers.
my soul full of belief, my heart full of wonder,
for thrilling joys that may unveil tomorrow.
victories are a product of continual diligence,
the battles i fight pave the road for my ambition.
i devour today’s rain,
to embrace tomorrow’s sun,
for then, I bloom
a backbone of wildflowers
